"Definitely worth giving Steve a ring at Saturn. He got our pension stuff sorted and he has just helped us set up a retirement plan so we can aim to retire early if we want to. Steve also knows the tax rules around bringing over UK pensions as he has a regular meeting with a local tax adviser who specialises in pensions. In certain circumstances there can be tax implications to bringing over your pension, so its important to understand if you can transfer free of tax or if a tax charge will apply. Steve has all the tax brackets (I just remember a transfer within 4 years of become NZ tax resident is free of tax), but once you’ve paid any tax obligation – which isn’t necessarily a lot – that means you don’t have to pay tax on it when you draw on the money. Steve came to us on recommendation from an ex-pat. It was such a relief to finally meet Steve, and we’ve been really pleased with his professionalism and advice in all our dealings with him. Obviously signing up with him means you are set up with the investments that his firm recommend, but then that applies with whoever you transfer with.
